We care about your air

About Us

Our origin starts with founder Scott Hersh who was in the auto detailing business for many years. Scott bought his first ozone ionizer to deal with cigarette smoke odors in cars. These were marketed as air purifiers nearly 30 years ago. To his amazement when he ran these machines for 12 hours it eliminated the odors. Everything worked great until the machines stopped working. They were unreliable and after buying several models and having problems with all of them, he finally decided to try to fix the ones he had. He took them apart and found they were simple units. They were a glass tube wrapped with a stainless-steel mesh and a high voltage transformer and a fan. Many of these units failed because the stainless-steel mess short circuited with the glass or the glass tube had broken. This led him to research ozone and ionization technology and discovered that the machines created ozone using the corona discharge method to create ozone. This method also created unwanted byproducts such as nitric oxide. Because the air we breathe contains 78% nitrogen and only 21% oxygen and this method broke down the nitrogen and the oxygen creating unwanted pollutants giving ozone generators a bad name. They also severely lost ozone output in a high humidity environment up to 80 percent. After further research he discovered that the only way to make pure ozone, not affected by humidity, was with UVC light bulbs with a specific wavelength of 185 nm. He refurbished all his broken machines using UV bulbs and the results were more constant and reliable. He bought UV bulbs from multiple manufacturers and found not all bulbs were created equal. He found a USA made bulb company called Atlantic and purchased UV meters and ozone monitors and tested multiple bulbs and discovered that the Atlantic bulbs were more reliable and had double the output of many other brands. Then a new technology came to market called hydroxyl generators. They used UV light. He purchased all the ones available on the market and was not impressed. They worked but took three times as long as ozone, but he did learn about tio2 and photo catalysis. Tio2 is in almost every white colored food from mashed potatoes to powered donuts. It is used by many industries as a white coloring. The cosmetic industries use it as a sun block. The Japanese discovered when UV light is illuminated on tio2 it causes a reaction that creates hydroxyl in the air which is the most reactive oxidant. After testing dozens of coatings from around the world with the dye degradation method he discovered that the Japanese coatings were far superior to any on the market. Many of the coatings were not effective because of the binder holding them together. The binder suffocates the tio2 particles and blocks or slows down reaction. He discovered by spraying the binder on to the surface to be coated and then dusting the particles onto the surface when wet eliminated the problem of tio2 becoming suffocated, but the tio2 still adhered to the surface without blocking reactions. Although not as durable, but more than 5 times more reactive than if mixed into the matrix. We coat the inside of our machines with this process, and it lasts for years if it is not disturbed. Another problem with these machines was wasted light energy. Many machines had no reflector or ineffective reflectors. They used stainless steel with is less than half as reflective to UV as polished aluminum. Our reactor plate is textured with hundreds of dimples.

These dimples act as hundreds of convex mirrors. The v shaped chamber which holds UV light slows down air flow to insure complete reaction. Many of the other units on the market are 3 times larger than our machines even though they have similar wattage bulbs. The reason ours are more compact is the fan size. Our units are meant to be paired with an air mover or placed near an HVAC intake system. Having a large fan adds weight and cost to these units. With replacement cost of fans over $300.00 where are fans cost only $30.00. After building our first prototype, we found our machines outperformed other units on the market. We then decided to bring our generators to the market. Originally modifying premade fabricated boxes made of steel we decided to have the metal guide made and have our custom-made aluminum and steel custom housing and we have also added another technology, a bipolar ionizer module which approve the efficiency of the units, especially in low humidity environments and we have built a new high output led unit #4. All units come with a lifetime warranty on the frame and hood and a 1-year warranty on all other parts. All old units can be completely refurbished with new components for a third of the cost of replacing with a new unit so it can last indefinitely. All other parts such as bulbs and fans and other parts are also sold separately.
